 Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring?

Come dressed in your bathing suit. Bring a towel and change of dry clothes. Pleas apply sunscreen at home. Often participants are hungry after lessons so hydration and a snack are helpful for the car ride home.

Can I wear goggles?

You can have goggles, however for a portion of the lesson goggles will not be permitted. It is important to learn what to do if you fall in to the water without your goggles.

Where do parents sit?

Parents, please sit near the fences away from the pool while the lesson is in session. The instructors will not leave the pool in the event your participants needs help in the restroom.

Can I swim with my child?

Only Parent-Child lessons permit parents in the water during lesson time. If you are not a member of the YMCA, we encourage participants to practice on their lesson days. If you are a member of the YMCA, we encourage you to the skills you learn in class during the free swim hours. Please see a schedule for those daily activities.

What happens in case it storms?

For SPRING & FALL  sessions, classes that are cancelled due to weather will be subject to TWO make-ups on Friday of the scheduled session (but because it is a 4 week session there could be up to 4 make-ups, only 2 are guaranteed) .

For SATURDAY Sessions, classes that are cancelled due to weather will be subject to ONE make-up lesson on the Saturday following the last lesson. If more than one make-up lesson is needed, the instructor will add extra time on the end of each lesson.

For SUMMER sessions, classes that are cancelled due to weather will be subject to TWO make-ups on Friday of the scheduled session.
